Evaluation the effectiveness of emotional self-efficacy training and problem-solving skills on increasing social adjustment and coping strategies in opioid Abusers

Abstract


Background: History and targeting: misusing the narcotics among drug addicts of Iranian societyhas been increased in recent years that needs special attention. In this study our main goal is to check the effectiveness of exciting self - efficacy training and problem - solving skills on increasing social harmony and coping strategies of misusing the narcotics. 

Methods:  the type of present study is clinical testing that has used Quasi-Experimental Research Methodpre-test and after test by random assignment. The statistical society of this research are all misusers of narcotics, who referred to the National Centre for drug abuse of Tehran that were chosen at random. In this sense, according to exit and entry scale in the study, 40 patients (men) were selected randomly and (20) were in test group, and (20) in control group. Participants in test groupthe group received 8 sessions (each session 90 minutes) of emotional self - efficacy training intervention and problem -solving skills. The means of data gathering in this research includen: confronting strategies questionnaire (CSQ) by Lazarus and Folkman and the social harmony scale (BAI). Finally data using SPSS statistical software and the descriptive statistics methods (means, standard deviation, the variance) and the inference statistics (analyze of Covariance) were analyzed. 

Results: The findings of this study showed that in the test, the exciting self-efficacy training emotional increases the social,employment and emotional harmony of patients addicted to opium. In the present study also the provided trainings on problem - solving skills led to an increase in the use of adaptive strategies (problem-based) in opiates consumers. 

conclusions: The findings of this study shows that education of exciting self - efficacy and problem - solving skills and decision - making skillssignificantly increases the employment and social harmony , and the use of adaptive strategies ( problem-based )  in people addicted to opium.
